Huggy Wuggy was originally created by Playtime CO. as a lovable stuffed toy intended for children. The toy quickly became the company’s most successful product. However, prior to the events of the game, Huggy Wuggy was modified—his human conscience was transferred but became corrupted, transforming him into a monster. His first appearance involves him disguising himself as a statue to deceive the protagonist. Once the player manages to retrieve the key and restore power to a specific room, Huggy Wuggy appears to have descended from his pedestal. Throughout the game, he stalks the player from vents and high, inaccessible locations. It isn’t until the player ventures into the dark that Huggy Wuggy emerges from the shadows and chases them through conveyor belt tunnels. If the player fails to reach the catwalk at the end of the belt, Huggy Wuggy surprises them, grabbing and killing them with his teeth. If they succeed in reaching the catwalk, they must push a box to block Huggy Wuggy and then destroy him, causing both of them to fall. If the player survives, Huggy Wuggy falls into the void after colliding with some pipes. Whether he survives or has perished remains unknown.
